As a self-taught artist, Marilyn has been painting for the last 40 years. Throughout her career as an elementary school teacher in southern Oregon, art acted as a form of stress relief and relaxation. Since retiring from teaching, her art career has blossomed. Marilyn is pursuing a full-time career in art with many of her creations now residing in private collections throughout the U.S. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work.
Marilyn loves a rich palette of color and the dramatic play of light on her subjects. She portrays animals in natural surroundings, the transparency of flowers and Western life in the Pacific Northwest and Arizona.
Marilyn excels in the medium of scratchboard, having been inducted into the International Society of Scratchboard Artists as a Signature Member. The scratchboard medium lends itself well to Western still life, the cowboy career and portrayals of animals and birds. She lives with her husband in Buckeye, Arizona.
