As a self-taught artist, Marilyn has been painting for the last 40 years. Throughout her career as an elementary school teacher in So.Oregon, art acted as stress relief and relaxation for her. Since retiring from teaching, her art career has blossomed. Marilyn is pursuing a full-time career in art with many of her creations now residing in private collections throughout the United States. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work.
Marilyn loves a rich palette of color and the dramatic play of light on her subjects. She portrays animals in natural surroundings; transparency of flowers; and the Western life of the Pacific Northwest and Arizona.
Marilyn excels in the medium of Scratchboard, having been inducted into the International Society of Scratchboard Artists as a Signature member. The scratchboard medium lends itself well to Western still life, the cowboy career, and portrayals of animals/birds. She lives with her husband in Buckeye, AZ.
