Lady in Waiting, Marilyn Manwaring

This lioness is lounging in a tree, sunning herself or waiting for her next meal to walk by. This moody painting was inspired by (with permission) photographer Paul Fine and captures the lighting and dappled shadows of a moment in the cool shade of a tree. I used a 9 blade tattoo needle, fiberglass brush and scalpel to created the thousands of tiny lines etched into the black scratchboard. I chose to leave it in traditional method of scratchboard without any color distracting from the highlights and shadows of this painting.
