Western Screech Owl, Jennifer Mancuso

The Western screech owl is a small, nocturnal owl, measuring only 7 – 10 inches tall. True to its name, the Western screech owl can only be found in the western portion of North America. Although nocturnal, they can be found during the day in Arizona nesting or resting in cavities built by woodpeckers in Saguaro cactus. Masterful hunters, they will prey on everything from rabbits to earthworms.
