The Harris’s hawk is unusual in the avian world for being a hawk that lives and hunts cooperatively in groups or family units. They are highly intelligent and social birds. The range of the Harris’s hawk is limited to a very small area of the southwestern United States but can be found as far south as Chile and Argentina. The Harris’s hawk stands 18 – 24 inches tall and has a wingspan of up to 47 inches.
