The crested caracara are tropical falcons that are fairly rare in Arizona but can be found in the southern part of the state. They can be seen on the ground foraging for carrion, but they also sometimes hunt small prey such as rabbits, lizards and snakes. In Arizona, they often build their nests in Saguaro cactus.
