The Ash-throated flycatcher will often perch in ocotillo blooms to hunt flying insects. Ash-throated flycatchers migrate to Arizona during the breeding season and often return to Mexico for the winter. They build nests in cavities dug by woodpeckers. The Ash-throated flycatcher is well adapted to dry environments, obtaining its water exclusively from the food it eats.
